"As a pediatrician and mother with interests in healthy eating habits for our young children, I am inspired by ‘The Food Magicians’ Spell Book’. It is indeed magical, as it puts the fun and joy into recipes that will get our children off to a healthy start in life. With my research in the area of childhood obesity prevention, the understanding that these habits must start with our children is well understood and this book will truly start parents down the right path!" | Everything about this book is magical. As soon as I opened the package, I was taken back to my childhood. The colourful simplicity of this spiral-bound book reminded me of one of my favourite piano books. There are so many cookery books for children on the market, but this one is special as it encourages healthy eating and the enjoyment of sugar-free treats. In my work teaching children to relax, I am finding the link between what goes in their mouths has a profound effect on their moods and emotions. Inspiring young children to make healthy choices is vital at this time and this book is one step in the right direction.

The recipes are very simple, which is great for the youngest of chefs. The illustrations are fun and inviting, and I think they will appeal to a very young audience. There is also a real emphasis on safety, and I noticed that sharp knives are avoided in the recipes. Overall, I think it is a very nice introductory cookbook for very young children The Vegetarian Society |

As a vegan and a self confessed cookbook-aholic, I have been looking for the perfect children’s vegan cookbook since my first child was born 8 years ago. I have always been disappointed by the children’s cookbooks available – if a recipe doesn’t contain lots of sugar or dairy then it doesn’t make it into the book. This book, however, is something else entirely. First of all, it is completely vegan. Hooray! No more substituting this, than and the other for a vegan equivalent! Secondly, it is a very healthy collection of recipes – all sugar-free and more or less wheat-free. It seems that the author actually cares about children’s health and the food they are leaning to make for themselves. Thirdly, it has been obviously been written with love and the best intentions and the sale of each copy even supports a charity feeding hungry children in South Africa. The book itself if beautiful, with a photo of each recipe, and with spiral bound. Wipe-clean pages, making it more or less indestructible. Each recipe has a rhyming magic spell to go with it (eg "Healthy, wholesome, healing food, I sprinkle this stew with gratitude"). The recipes are simple, with a short list of ingredients and an even shorter list of instructions (all of which are written with love. Gillian Hall and children

"Catherine has created a delightful book for kids to cook. It’s a masterstroke – I can’t imagine anyone (adult or child) not feeling inspired and wanting to get in the kitchen and create magic. This book is exactly what parents need to awaken an interest in the fun that can be had from creating healthy food in the family kitchen. I tried the Lucky Cookie recipe and couldn’t believe how easy it was. Well done. Gina Lazenby, author of "It was great not to think I needed to get the evening meal ready whilst my toddler had her afternoon sleep, it was a fun activity we could do together! She loved the whole experience, from wearing a little apron to adding ingredients, helping ‘chop’ and stirring, watching it go into the oven and being very proud of the end result! I have to admit I’d not really plucked up the courage to actually involve her in the whole of cooking a meal before, but the food magician recipes were so quick and simple. There was even time for a quick story whilst our tea was in the oven! On another occasion when Rebecca had a 2-year-old friend coming over for tea with his Dad, the little ones did the cooking for us all with great delight! Only a few spills, no need to get food ready before everyone arrived, a fun activity for the kids and we all got to eat tasty healthy food together." Dr. Trish Evans |

My children had great fun making ‘Wisdom Rolls’: They loved getting hands in with kneading the dough and were excited to see the balls of dough magically rise and, guess what, excited to be eating them too! Julia, Swindon |
